On April 20th (very funny) the MKBC was collateral damage to an investigation of a neighboring Doctor’s office and over 1mm dollars of product, equipment, records and personal items were stolen by the medical board as they learned about the dispensary through it’s investigation and raid on the neighboring Medical Kush Dr.
“The Rise and Fall of the Medical Kush Beach Club” (working title) chronicles the clubs experiences as one of the largest, most popular dispensaries in the country, having navigated through federal legislation, police raids, and the capricious medical marijuana industry.
Filmed over the course of three years, and including a combination of never-before-seen footage, news reports, and interviews, the documentary sheds light on the “highs” and lows of running a high-profile medical marijuana dispensary.
The DVD is set for release very soon. Stay tuned to the websiteand our Facebook Page for updates on progress and exclusive previews. We thank all the patients, vendors, and employees of the Medical Kush Beach Club for making us an industry standard and helping complete and promote this significant documentary.
If you have been to the MKBC during the time it was open and if you have some interesting information about the dispensary please contact firstname.lastname@example.org using the link to the left.
Currently, we are editing the large amounts of footage we captured over the course of three years at the Medical Kush Beach Club. The challenge is making sure the footage from various sources works in the timeline efficiently. As many of you know, the majority of the footage is from your every day flipcams that you can buy at Best Buy. The reason we used these cameras was because there are always moments of merit happening at the MKBC and it was not economically feasible to hire a camera crew to follow the employees around 24 hours-a-day. So we armed Sean with flipcams to capture the best moments. The usability in Final Cut is not so great so we have to export all the files to work well with the timeline in Final Cut Pro.
Additionally, we continue to expand our list of people that need to be interviewed for this story. There were many people from all over who came to MKBC. Also, there were dozens of great vendors and press people that were a big help in the success of MKBC. As we continue to edit this documentary we find more and more great moments that need elaboration by those involved. We are asking that all the people who have become a part of Hashbar TV, The Medical Kush Beach Club and Kushinator to get in touch with us for an interview. You can email Hashbartv@gmail.com if you are interested in becoming a part of this doc or helping out in any way.
Because of the nature of the documentary, we haven’t been surprised to learn that some people would prefer not to be interviewed. This is often the case when we have an industry leading company/personality being charged with felonies. It seems some people have thicker skin than others. We would hope that all who were involved would choose to participate and tell their side of the story.
Up to this point we have over four terabytes of footage and we have made copies and given them to three different editors. This speeds up the process and protects our footage from theft, seizure, and damage. There is nothing that can stop this documentary from happening. It is so important that the public see the good, the bad, and the ugly of this relatively new industry. In this way, the public can make a decision as to whether they think a place like this should exist. We feel it is our right as citizens to demand the right to grow and smoke our own medicine to heal ourselves and keep us happy and healthy. We believe that those who suffer from ailments by which marijuana can assist should be able to procure the necessary medicines. They should be allowed to have fun places they can go where they don’t have to talk about their illnesses and can participate in fun activities. The MKBC was that place and now it is no longer.
